That's assuming a 16 game format. Which I believe is one of the
reasons the big FB schools don't want a playoff (Ask Michigan if
they are over Appalacian State yet).

Upsets occur all the time with #1's and #2's (read - see last year)
in FB to supposedly inferior teams.
